We would like your help for a planned project to create subtitles for our e-learning videos in multiple languages.
Given the diversity of the RIPE NCC service region, its important for us to keep engaging with you and listening to your suggestions.
After checking the results of the Membership and Stakeholder Survey 2013 , we noticed that many of you suggested we add subtitles to our E-Learning videos in several languages used in our service region. After some consideration, we decided it would be best to work on this together with you.
We will publish editable documents containing the video subtitle text in English. Speakers of other languages will be able to replace the English subtitles with the translated version in their own language. Each document will be titled in the format [Subject - Language]. You can then access the document you would like to translate and make your changes directly to the document. Anyone who would like to collaborate with us can translate the file - or just translate a small part of it. The more participants we get, the better!
We are going to start with a pilot project with only two languages. This way, we can see what works best for you and what needs to be improved before we apply this model to the other languages in our service region.
For the editable online document, we are planning to use Google Docs. We believe it is a good choice because everyone can access it easily online.
Feedback
Before we start, we would like your feedback and suggestions.
Please let us know what you think about this initiative! We are specifically interested to find out if there are any other online collaboration tools for this purpose. If you have any feedback or suggestions, please leave a comment here or share it via email at e-learning@ripe.net .

I really like the idea, as I like to 'read' through videos, and I could translate while doing that. I wish youtube had automated captioning.
